KAPtat is Skye Neville’s campaign to get rid of plastic toys on magazines. These toys are low value, aren’t recyclable and pollute the planet forever after their 5 minutes of use.

Skye and Kids Against Plastic are asking us to write a letter to leading supermarkets, to show them that we don’t want this tat being stocked on the shelves.

So let’s all get involved, and encourage our kids and their schools to get involved and write letters, and remove this vast amount of unnecessary plastic tat.

To support even more, sign her petition.

Share the campaign hashtag and resources and send in pictures of tat covered magazines in your supermarkets.

Can you believe that plastic tat on magazines is responsible for such a large amount of pollution? These toys are ‘low value’, not recyclable and are often only used for a few minutes. Skye Neville is an amazing 11 year old campaigning to get rid of these toys on magazines, pointing out how unnecessary they are, and 87% of kids agree with her saying they wouldn’t miss the tat.

Let’s all help Skye out, and sign her petition, send in pictures of the tat on magazines in your local supermarkets, support her letter writing initiative and share her campaign!

KAPtat is short for Kids Against Plastic tat, with tat being the pointless throwaway plastic toys that magazine publishers add to their comics and magazines.

Not only are the toys themselves pretty rubbish – hence the term ‘tat’ – they are made from cheap plastics that are not commonly recycled and often end up in landfill, incineration or littered in the environment. Due to the significant numbers of comics and magazines sold – and therefore tat produced (from oil) – they also impact on the climate crisis.

Skye Neville, is leading the fight against plastic tat, and Kid’s Against Plastic are proud to be supporting her.

The positive change against the un-necessary use of single-use plastics, like plastic comic tat, is important as we all do our bit against plastic pollution and the climate crisis. We’ve got four ways you can get involved and make a difference.

WRITE
Join a nationwide, pupil-led letter writing campaign to help bring about a positive change and ‘write the wrong’ that is plastic comic tat.

PHOTOGRAPH
Send your photographs of comics and magazines on sale in shops to help demonstrate how ca-TAT-astrophic the plastic tat situation is.

SIGN
Add your name to Skye’s petition on Change.org calling for supermarkets and shops to ban plastic toys on children’s comics and magazines. Help make a difference.

SHARE
Use our ready-made resources, and the #KAPtat hashtag, to share this campaign with other people. Use you social media skills to help spread the word.
