Follow the Plastic

Where does supermarket soft plastic packaging really go?

Soft plastic recycling should not be a black box.

Live Tracker

Follow the latest soft plastic packaging journeys.

KAP is following four more pieces of soft plastic packaging, one at a time.

Each tracker will help us ask what we know, what we do not know, and what questions the journey raises.

AirTags do not provide constant GPS tracking. They update when nearby Apple devices detect them through Apple’s Find My network.

What we can and cannot claim

What we CAN say

  • AirTags can show where a tracker was last detected.
  • Tracker journeys can raise useful questions about what happens after collection.
  • Several journeys may help show how complex soft plastic collection routes can be.

What we CANNOT say

  • An AirTag does not prove the final treatment of every item.
  • One tracker does not prove what happens to all soft plastic.
  • A last known location is not always the final destination.
  • The aim is not to blame shop staff or individual workers.
