KAP and the Green School, Bali

Amy and Ella spoke to Edd Moore’s Green School Bali Grade 2 Class about Kids Against Plastic and what they can do to reduce plastic. Amy and Ella spoke about KAP Club and documenting the litter they find on the litter app.

The Children in Grade 2 have been learning about the waste problem on Bali especially single use plastic. The children have visited a local landfill site and saw a sea of plastic which was mostly single use plastic bags. They have also taken part in a litter pick outside the school grounds tallying up the different types of plastic they found which again was mostly plastic bags. These items were sorted and placed in the Schools KemBali Recycle Centre.

The children plan to start a campaign to educate communities about the single use plastic problem and to encourage people to refuse the plastic bag when given out.

The children at Green School Bali have been empowered by our talk so much that the next day a group of children stood up in front of the class to announce they were going to start a littler picking group to clear up the litter outside the school and encouraged other children to join too.
