The first ever KAP COP was hosted on Saturday November 22nd.
Attending members debated a range of policies to enact for the Global North and South. The Global North, lead by Lucie, had a large budget of 10 KAP Currency.
After discussion, they chose to back policy 1, which proposed a formal timeline to end the use of coal, oil and gas, costing them 3K. Their suggested timeline was 2055.
The Global South, lead by Miss Ijaz, had a much tighter budget, with only 2K. After a big divide between opinions on which policy to put forward, they decided on Policy 2, which involved the North paying 0.5K to help restore and protect the vulnerable Amazon Rainforest.
Although both the North and South were satisfied with the final agreement, fossil fuel lobbyists stepped in on the consensus, asking for negotiations and compromises to be made.
Many KAP members proposed compromises to keep all parties happy.
After close a vote, the final decision was to extend the deadline further than 2055, allowing fossil fuel companies longer to phase out.
